International Applications

If you have a degree in social work from a country outside Canada or the United States, you will need to have your credentials evaluated for equivalency to a Canadian social work degree.

SASW only accepts evaluations completed by the Canadian Association of Social Workers. (CASW). The process for applying to CASW to have your credential evaluated, is located on the CASW website -https://casw-acts.ca/en/about-casw/what-we-do/assessment-international-credentials. The cost associated with this evaluation is the responsibility of the applicant.

Upon completion of their evaluation, CASW will sendnotification of their decision directly to the SASW office as well as to the applicant. Once you have received confirmation that your social work degree is equivalent to a Canadian degree, you may begin the application process to become a registered social worker in Canada. SASW will only accept applications for registration if you are living in Canada.
